DESIGN PROCESS

Step 1: Consultation

After a complimentary phone call to get started, we begin with a 90 minute on site design consultation. This meeting is to listen to your needs, discuss the vision for your project, absorb any ideas that you may wish to incorporate and gather necessary information regarding the scope, timeline, and budget. This consultation is billed at a flat fee.

Step 2: Proposal

After the consultation, we provide you with a design proposal. This document will include the scope, design deliverables, proposed budget, designer fees and estimated project timeline. Basically, everything you need to know to make an informed decision and plan for your project. Especially when renovations are involved, we know you have a lot to manage, so we want to help by providing the layout and fees for your project up front. If this proposal is accepted then the design agreement is signed, a retainer is filed and the fun part of the process can begin!

Step 3: Initial Client Meeting

One of our favorite parts of the process, this is a very fun meeting where we get to explore ideas together. Based on what we already know about your project, we will bring many different images, concepts, materials, colors, etc., to this meeting to review together. The idea is to draw out what you like, and just as important, what you don't like! At this meeting we may present you with some ideas that we think would be incredible for your project. The main goal here is to really establish who you are and what your vision for the design of your project is. We want to ensure we are on the same page as we move forward to the concept phase.

For landscape projects we begin by examining the properties current state and creating an existing conditions map.  Where are the trouble areas? What should remain? What needs to go? All this information helps us create the foundation to build your design.

Step 4: Concept Meeting

We take our notes from the initial client meeting and continue the brainstorming process by pulling together ideas and concept boards specific to your home and/or landscape and present those in this meeting. We create initial spatial layouts and identify material selections. The purpose of these boards is to solidify a direction for the design and begin to provide you with concrete ideas of what the final design will entail.  In this meeting we also provide a detailed scope, budget allocation, and furniture plan to review. At the concept meeting, we review these plans and materials with you to obtain your feedback and to inform the final design phase.

Step 5: Design Presentation

Upon receiving the go ahead from the concept phase meeting, we start selecting materials and furnishings which align with our concept. Once the design is complete, we create detailed drawings, including 3D renderings and present you with a thoughtfully prepared presentation that fully encompasses our design vision. Revisions will be made and once sign offs are given the designs will be ready to come to life.

Step 6: Project Management

This is the part of the project where you get to sit back and allow us to do our thing. During the final phase we will coordinate with our established team of contractors and craftspeople to manage every detail of your project from placing orders, to site visits, to delivering and installing all the elements we have carefully chosen together. This is when form and function really come together and the design concept becomes reality. There’s truly nothing like it, trust us.

Step 7: Design Completion

Once construction is wrapping up and furnishings have been installed, a final walk-through is scheduled to review the project and a punch list created to handle any outstanding details. We like to look back and review with you how the project has gone and where there may be room for improvement as well as celebrate the beautiful results together. After all final checklists have been addressed we consider our work complete.
